In May, a new, impressive carpet of flowers unfolds on the lean grassland of the mountain plateau, which is different from that of the spring migration. Other medicinal and aromatic plants bloom, and the diverse insect and bird life attracts numerous nature lovers to the Glauberg plateau.
The tour explores the archaeological and historical traces around the monastery spur of Konradsdorf, one of the best researched medieval monastery sites in Hesse.
The hike leads to the impressively preserved rampart and ditch structures around the Glauberg, whose extraordinary dimensions originated in the Iron Age.
The excursion conveys the geological development of the Glauberg from the Pleistocene „Stone River“ to the volcanic processes that shaped the landscape.
