Our Celtic prince in Dublin!
The week before last, Keltenwelt am Glauberg brought one of 25 Celtic prince sculptures by the internationally renowned artist Ottmar Hörl to Dublin (Ireland). This was accompanied by a big thank you to the "The Discovery Programme: Centre for Archaeology and Innovation Ireland“with whom we have a very good partnership. A few years ago, the team from Ireland produced the first 3D scan of the statue of the "Celtic prince of Glauberg". This scan was used not only for research purposes, but also as a data basis for Ottmar Hörl's sculptures. "The replicas of Ottmar Hörl's Celtic princes have already inspired many people as brand ambassadors for the cultural state of Hesse - we are delighted," says Folke Mühlhölzer, CEO of Hessen Agentur GmbH, which manages the umbrella brand "Culture in Hesse" on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts. The digital 3D model of the Dublin team can be viewed online at https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/statue-of-a-celtic-warrior-from-glauberg-0ef93f371295475298acc73440247fa8
Due to its detailed design and good preservation, the original sandstone statue is one of the most outstanding representatives of this very rare type of find and is a symbol of the Glauberg with a high recognition value far beyond its borders. More information about the statue can be found at https://www.keltenwelt-glauberg.de/mediathek/die-statue-des-keltenfuersten/
Many thanks to our colleagues from The Discovery Programme for the great co-operation! Thanks also go to the German Embassy in Dublin and the National Monuments Service Ireland, who attended the unveiling of the statue.
