Workshop “Celtic Griffin Primer”
A very special piece of early Celt jewelry serves as the model for this course: a garment clasp in the shape of a griffin. These wondrous mythical creatures, hybrids of eagle and lion, have been known in the ancient Orient for thousands of years. During Celtic times, they migrated from Greece and Etruria to the Rhine. They fascinated Celtic nobles, warriors, and metalworkers. To this day, the powerful expressiveness of these mystical beings of ancient cultures continues to inspire.
Under expert guidance, skilled participants (14 years and older) can learn the techniques necessary to complete the fibula and ensure its functionality: cleaning and finishing the surface, creating the closure mechanism, adjusting the spiral construction, and the admittedly time-consuming finishing techniques necessary to create a perfect needle.
