Workshop: Casting Workshop

Shiny metal objects according to your own design

All manual work steps that are necessary for a simple metal casting are carried out. We work outside, protected from the rain, by an open fire. Each participant makes his or her own mold, into which hot,
liquid tin is poured. With skill and perseverance, coarse casting blanks can be turned into fine jewellery, a keyring or a
other beautiful shiny object!

Tin has been used in Central Europe for over 4000 years in a mixture with copper as a casting material. The casting of metal is a very old craft that dates back to the Late Stone Age (around 4300 BC). Since the Bronze Age over 4000 years ago, weapons, jewelry and equipment have been made from bronze in molds made from clay or stone.
