Guided tour: The large rampart of the Glauberg – dimensions of a prehistoric fortification
The hike leads to the impressively preserved rampart and ditch structures around the Glauberg, whose extraordinary dimensions date back to the Iron Age. Recent archaeological investigations show that these fortifications are almost unique in the early Celtic region and still leave many questions unanswered regarding the function and development of the site. The tour provides a clear overview of the history of research, dating, and current questions.
Note: The trail is unpaved and includes a steep ascent and descent. It is not wheelchair accessible. Sturdy footwear and a minimum level of fitness are therefore strongly recommended. Depending on the group's mobility, the actual duration may vary from the stated time.
