Vergessene Weinberge – neue Wege zur Erforschung des historischen Weinanbaus am Glauberg und in der Wetterau
Lecture by Dr. Ruth Beusing
Until the 20th century, the Wetterau region was a significant wine-growing area, traces of which are now often only visible in the landscape, field names, and archaeological findings. Ruth Beusing offers a new perspective on the forgotten viticulture of the Wetterau. Using LiDAR and cadastral data analyses combined with historical sources and excavations, she demonstrates how this forgotten wine-growing landscape can be reconstructed. The Glauberg area, in particular, emerges as a striking example of a historical wine-growing landscape.
