Celtic World Forum: Celtic ostentation from Saxony. The discovery of Pirna-Pratzschwitz

Lecture by Dr. Ingo Kraft/Dr. Wolfgang Ender – LfA Sachsen

The last days of a three-year excavation campaign in Pirna-Pratzschwitz brought the Saxon state archaeology a previously unique discovery – a magnificent find from the Celtic world. Excellently crafted garment clasps (brooches), a previously completely unknown bronze chain necklace and almost 500 Beads made of amber and blue glass were laid down together. The artistically outstanding mask brooch and the bird's head brooches are to be placed alongside the highest quality examples from the Celtic princely seat horizon (5th century BC). The lecture is devoted to the discovery and description of the unique find and embeds it in the cultural-historical events of its time.
