Open tour: burial mound exclusive 3 pm

Guided Tour

Many exciting traces of the Celts have been preserved in the area around the large burial mound at the foot of the Glauberg. The tour guides will tell you about them on our new tour. Come with us on an excursion!

As the seat of Celtic rulers, Glauberg is one of the most important archaeological sites of the Celts in Europe. The discovery of the large burial mound and the life-size statue marked the beginning of the success story of the Glauberg. Nobody could have imagined at the time that the excavations would reveal two completely undisturbed graves of Celtic rulers. Both contained 2400-year-old, extraordinary grave goods such as richly decorated gold jewelry, weapons and bronze jugs. The grave of the "Celtic Prince of the Glauberg" is world-famous among experts. But that's not all. During the exploration of the site, another untouched grave of a Celtic warrior and mysterious rampart and ditch structures were discovered. This also includes the so-called "processional way" at burial mound 1. It is suspected that it is connected to astronomical observations from the Celtic period.

Afterwards, it is worth visiting the exhibition, where the original artefacts can be seen. And on the large outdoor terrace of our museum bistro, you can enjoy the magnificent view while savouring homemade cakes and regional dishes.
