Family Sunday - Hand spindle construction

The Keltenwelt am Glauberg offers a hands-on programme for children and adults on this Sunday.

Hand spindle construction

The hand spindle is a simple device for spinning fibres and wool into yarn. It consists of a rod-shaped shaft and a swing weight. The swing weight stabilises the spinning movement and can be formed by a thickening of the shaft or a spinning whorl pushed onto the shaft.
