Celtic World Forum: History of Agriculture and Ploughing – Sustainable? Exploitative?

Lecture by Claus Kropp MA – Lpus of the Experimental archaeological Lauresham open-air laboratory

How have agricultural activities and technologies changed over the last few millennia and what impact have these had on people's lives? How well were agricultural methods adapted to climate change, droughts or storms? Can the economic practices of Iron Age and medieval people be described as sustainable? Join us on an entertaining journey through the history of agriculture over the last few millennia. After the lecture there will be time for discussion.

In addition, questions can also be asked about the collaboration that has been in place since spring between our colleagues from the Lauresham open-air laboratory, the Saalburg Roman fort and the Glauberg Celtic World. In the future, these three institutions would like to work together as representatives of the client Cultural Heritage of the State of Hesse in the areas of experimental archaeology and archaeotechnology and thus strengthen these two subjects in both research and communication work. There is a lot to learn from each other and exciting projects are planned!
