Workshop: Comb weaving based on Hallstatt period finds
Evidence of comb-woven braids dates back to the Hallstatt period. Over 100 textile fragments were found in a salt mine from the early Iron Age, including braids that could be produced with a loom comb.
Workshop: Museum Drawing in the Celtic World at Glauberg
In Kooperation mit dem Atelier Wallmann findet am Samstag, den 13. Dezember 2025, von 17 bis 20 Uhr das nächste Museumszeichnen statt.
In the exhibition you have access to the original finds and can enjoy the inclusive drawing workshop undisturbed and exclusively.
You will be guided and accompanied by professional artists.
Thanks to the intensive supervision, the drawing course is suitable for advanced and experienced students as well as beginners.
The course is aimed at anyone interested in drawing aged 16 and over; younger participants can take part with a companion after consultation.

Die Technik ist heute noch in den nordischen und östlichen Gebieten Europas verbreitet. Meist handelte es sich um Zierborten. Es wird die Webvorbereitung (das Spannen der Kette) und die Webtechnik, Kettrips, erklärt sowie Hilfestellung bei beidem gegeben. Die Grundzüge der Mustererstellung, worauf besonders zu achten ist, ist ebenfalls Thema dieses Workshops. An diesem Tage soll ein Musterband begonnen werden, dass die Teilnehmer befähigt, zuhause weitere Muster zu entwerfen und zu weben. Für jede/n Teilnehmer/in stehen 3 verschiedene Muster zur Auswahl. Das Kammwebgerät besteht aus Holz und kann, falls vorhanden, mitgebracht werden oder nach Anmeldung im Kurs zum Selbstkostenpreis erworben werden.
Die Teilnehmer erhalten nach verbindlicher Anmeldung per E-Mail an natur-kulturfuehrer@freenet.de eine Liste mit den noch mitzubringenden Materialien und Werkzeugen.

Workshop: Nordic-style comb weaving
There is evidence of combed woven borders dating back to the Hallstatt period.
The technique is still widespread today in the Nordic and eastern regions of Europe. Mostly
These were decorative borders that a bride made for her trousseau. They were used to decorate
especially the festive and Sunday garments.
The weaving preparation (tensioning the warp) and the weaving technique are explained as well as
assistance with both is provided. The basics of pattern creation, what to pay particular attention to
is also the topic of this workshop. A sample ribbon will be started on this day
that the participants are able to design and weave further patterns at home. For

From wool to nettle – rediscovering old techniques
In this workshop, we'll delve into the fascinating world of spinning. Whether wool, linen, hemp, or even nettle fibers – we'll learn about the differences between the materials and discover how they create delicate threads. In addition to fascinating insights into the history and processing of the fibers, the focus will be on practical exercises.
We'll practice spinning with a hand spindle and, depending on your preference and previous experience, try out the spinning wheel. We'll also build our own simple hand spindle, which you can, of course, take home.
No prior knowledge required – curiosity is enough!
Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own fibers or spindles.

From thread to color – textile technology like the Celts
Without thread there are no clothes.
Under this motto, we embark on a journey back in time to the early Celtic world of textile processing. In this two-day workshop, participants will learn basic thread-making techniques: Using a hand-made hand spindle, we will spin wool and flax – just like our ancestors.
But that's not all: We dye the spun yarns over an open fire using traditional natural materials. This creates intense red tones from madder, deep indigo blue, and vibrant yellow from selected plants or fungi. Dyeing is not only a creative process, but also a play with chemical intricacies – especially the pH value, which significantly determines color and durability. This ancient knowledge of acids, alkalis, and dyes was already important to the Celts – and is revived here.
A course for everyone who wants to rediscover old crafts – with time, leisure, and enthusiasm.

People have always needed containers to collect and store things.
To do this, they made use of the materials that nature provided them with. They used these to make baskets and the like. Unfortunately, there are only a few rare archaeological finds, as the organic materials used are only preserved under the most favourable conditions.

Workshop: Färben und Textile Techniken
In diesem zweitägigen Workshop erlernen die Teilnehmer grundlegende Techniken der Fadenherstellung: Mit einer selbst gefertigten Handspindel spinnen wir Wolle und Flachs. Das Färben ist nicht nur ein kreativer Prozess, sondern auch ein Spiel mit chemischen Feinheiten – insbesondere dem pH-Wert, der maßgeblich über Farbton und Haltbarkeit entscheidet.
Workshop: Metallwerkstatt - eisenzeitliche Fibel
Nach dem Vorbild eisenzeitlicher Originale werden in diesem Workshop funktionsfähige Gewandspangen hergestellt. Durch gezieltes Biegen und Hämmern entsteht aus einem Draht in Silber, Kupfer oder Eisen eine Fibel nach dem sogenannten Latène-Schema. Dabei lernen die Teilnehmenden, wie sie die technischen Feinheiten einer federnden Mechanik inklusive Nadel und Nadelrast wie vor über 2000 Jahren gestalten können.

Felting is one of humanity's oldest textile techniques – and its versatility continues to fascinate today. In this creative workshop, participants will learn both dry felting with a needle and wet felting with soap and water.

2-Tage Workshop: Metallwerkstatt – Gussformenbau und Guss in Silber
Die eisenzeitliche Epoche ist in metallurgischer Hinsicht vor allem für die Verhüttung von Eisen bekannt. Die Verarbeitung von Bronze, Gold und Silber die in der vorangehenden Bronzezeit schon ihren Anfang nahm, setzte sich in der anschließenden Eisenzeit ebenfalls auf hohem Niveau fort, davon zeugen die Schmuckfunde aus der Zeit des Keltenfürsten vom Glauberg.
In dem 2-tägigen workshop werden die vorgeschichtlichen Grundlagen des Metallgusses erlernt. Die Teilnehmenden gestalten am ersten Tag nach eigenen Ideen oder in Anlehnung an eisenzeitliche Originale eine 2-teilige Gussform aus Ton. Am zweiten Tag wird in der keltischen Schmiede auf dem Außengelände Silber geschmolzen und in die Tonformen gegossen. So entsteht mit einfachsten Mitteln ein individuelles Objekt, ein Schmuckstück, Schlüsselanhänger o.ä.. Das gegossene Objekt kann je nach Wunsch zum Abschluss befeilt und von Hand poliert werden.
