open participation program
The Keltenwelt am Glauberg offers a hands-on programme for children and adults on this Sunday.
Was the famous statue of the Celtic prince once colorfully painted? Despite intensive research, this question remains unanswered to this day. But in the Celtic World at Glauberg you can give your own answer! On Sunday, April 13th, we invite you to a creative workshop from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., where you have the opportunity to paint your own small cast ceramic figure of our "Celtic prince" according to your ideas and take it home with you.
The figure is available for €10.00 at the museum ticket office, and we will provide you with brushes and acrylic paints free of charge. There are no limits to your imagination! Show your talent: We look forward to presenting the resulting works of art on our social media channels. The offer is aimed at children aged 10 and over, as well as all adults who are young at heart.
Come over and join in!

Archaeology Theme Weekend: Nutrition
Celtic Cuisine – Food in the Iron Age
Cooking, baking, roasting, grilling... and eating. Nutrition, "eating" and preparing food have always played a central role in people's lives. This was also the case in the Iron Age. Even if no recipes have been handed down to us, archaeological finds and findings allow us to draw conclusions about preparation methods, ingredients and eating habits. From food cultivation and livestock farming to kitchen appliances and ovens, the themed weekend is dedicated to physical well-being in a wide-ranging program. Demonstrations and tastings appeal to all the senses and one or two stations also invite you to take part, because trying is better than studying.
INFO
Venue: in the museum garden
Event time: from 10 am to 6 pm
Costs: Children/youths: 1 EUR, adults: 4 EUR, under 6 years free
Tickets can be purchased online here.

Theme Weekend Archaeology: Iron
The ability to extract iron and steel from inconspicuous lumps of ore triggered a huge surge in innovation in the Iron Age. This weekend we will be devoting ourselves to the technology of iron production in the blast furnace. Specialists will be gathering in the museum garden of the Celtic World on the Glauberg to provide insights into the fascinating world of iron production and processing. The resulting pig iron will be further processed and objects will be forged just like they were 2000 years ago. The event for the whole family will be rounded off with hands-on activities on the subject of iron.

On this themed weekend we will be devoting ourselves to the history of single combat and its cultural significance. Fighting has always been more than just a necessity for humanity - it has developed into an art form. Archaeological finds from Glauberg and the region also demonstrate the central role of single combat in various eras.
What do we know about Celtic swordsmanship? How did Greek wrestlers, Roman gladiators and medieval knights fight? And what values do modern martial arts convey?
Look forward to combat shows from various groups. In addition, you can expect vivid lectures and much more about the history and archaeology of the combat culture. A varied program for everyone who is interested in martial arts and their cultural dimensions!

Archaeology Theme Weekend: Clothing and Textiles
Archaeology theme weekend - clothing and textiles
Clothes make the man! This proverb certainly also applied to the Celts. Fabrics and clothing from the Iron Age are therefore at the centre of the two theme days. Experience how fabrics were once made and dyed. Let yourself be introduced to the art of tablet weaving and learn about the working methods of textile archaeology at the information stand. Garments made from original finds will give you an idea of how the reconstruction of Celtic clothing is far more than just a craft challenge.
For children and adults, the Keltenwelt am Glauberg is offering an extensive hands-on programme on ancient textile techniques this weekend. For example, you can bring along an old item of clothing and dye it blue on site. You can also practise board weaving or spin a thread with hand spindles.

Astronomy night at Glauberg - On the trail of stars and planets
On Saturday, September 13th, between 7 and 11 p.m., everything at Glauberg will be about the sun, moon, stars and planets. The Celtic World at Glauberg and the observatory of the Frankfurt Physical Society invite you to the ninth astronomy night.
The Frankfurt astronomers will be bringing a range of different telescopes to the Glauberg to give stargazers of all ages a glimpse of the starry sky. But visitors themselves can also explore the night sky with binoculars or their own telescope.
Throughout the evening, the moon with its bizarre crater landscape and other planets will be in the spotlight. Attempts will also be made to capture one or two double stars and star clusters - light years away. But it can also be done without any technology: if you want to enjoy the fascinating firmament above the Glauberg in total, the special star tours are the right choice. Here, the current constellations are presented and tips on how to find your way around the starry sky are given.
For visitors who would like to learn more about astronomy, there will be short lectures starting at 7:30 p.m. (further information on the 3 different short lectures will follow).
An exhibition will feature real meteorites – stones from the universe – that have been found in various places around the world.
Finally, a "creative corner" provides variety for little stargazers. There they can make astronomical models and colour in astronomical motifs to their heart's content.
The permanent exhibition and the special exhibition "Paths through time. The history of the Glauberg" are open to visitors until 11 p.m. on this evening, so the world of the stars and the Celtic world can be explored together. The bistro in the museum will provide refreshments.
