VISITING REGULATIONS OF THE KELTENWELT AM GLAUBERG
We warmly welcome you to the Archaeological State Museum Keltenwelt am Glauberg (KWG), an institution of the State Office for Monument Preservation in Hesse, and wish you a pleasant and interesting stay. The visitor regulations are intended to make your visit to the museum and archaeological park as well as the museum bistro as pleasant as possible and are binding for all guests.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Photography and filming
Taking photographs and filming are generally permitted in the museum and the archaeological park for private purposes. The use of additional artificial light (flashlights) and tripods or similar aids is not permitted. Taking photographs and filming for professional and commercial purposes indoors and outdoors requires written permission from the KWG. The use of drones is generally only permitted with prior permission from the KWG.
Guided tours and visitor programs
Commercial tours and programs in the museum and outside area are not permitted. Permits are issued by the KWG.
Behaviour rules
Visitors are obliged to behave in such a way that they do not hinder, harass or endanger other people and do not damage museum objects and other facilities on site.
Visitors are prohibited from using words, writing and gestures to disparage human freedom and dignity (Article 1 of the Basic Law) and from using symbols and marks that are in the spirit of or represent anti-constitutional or unconstitutional organizations.
Dressing up in historical clothing and equipment, and especially carrying weapons of any kind, is not permitted.
Animals are not allowed into the exhibition (assistance dogs and guide dogs are welcome!). Dogs must be kept on a leash in the outdoor area, museum garden and bistro.
Order for individual cases and ban on entry
The museum staff is authorized to issue orders in the interest of the KWG. These orders must be followed. Failure to comply with these house rules may result in a ban from the building and grounds. In the event of a ban from the building and grounds, the entrance fee will not be refunded.
Liability
1. the liability of Keltenwelt am Glauberg and the Archaeological Park or the responsible body for contractual breaches of duty and tort is limited to intent and gross negligence. This does not apply to injury to life, limb and health, claims for breach of cardinal obligations, i.e. obligations arising from the nature of the contract and the breach of which jeopardises the achievement of the purpose of the contract, or compensation for damage caused by delay (Section 286 BGB). In this respect, Keltenwelt am Glauberg and the Archaeological Park or the responsible body shall be liable for any degree of fault. Insofar as liability for damages is excluded or limited, this also applies with regard to the liability for damages of employees, workers, staff, representatives and vicarious agents.
2. Keltenwelt am Glauberg and the Archaeological Park or the responsible body is not liable for damage caused by the behaviour of visitors. Visitors are liable for any damage caused by them in accordance with the statutory provisions.
MUSEUM, MUSEUM GARDEN AND BISTRO
The museum and the museum garden can be visited during opening hours, although individual areas may be temporarily closed (e.g. during construction work, weather conditions). Please note the garden regulations.
When visiting in groups, accompanying persons are instructed to stay with their group and keep the group together. A tour of the museum and the outdoor area can be terminated by the tour guide if it is unlikely that the group will be able to stay together even after being asked to do so. In this case, there is no entitlement to reimbursement of the cost of the tour.
There may be risks associated with the demonstration of historical craft and production techniques.
Consumption of food and drinks brought from outside is not permitted. The toilets are only available to guests of the KWG and the bistro. Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted in the museum building.
KWG assumes no liability for the cloakroom and the contents of the lockers.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK AND PARKING AREAS
The Archaeological Park is freely accessible. The site may only be used during daylight hours and at your own risk. Leaving the paths is not permitted. Liability is excluded for injuries and damaged clothing and other items. Visitors are not permitted during storms or when there is a risk of severe weather. Demonstrations of historical craft and production techniques can be dangerous. Vehicles of any kind, bicycles and motorcycles are not permitted on the Glauberg Plateau; this also applies to riding animals.
Most of the paths in the outdoor area are not paved. They are not barrier-free. Pay particular attention to uneven ground such as stones, branches and mole holes in the car park, paths, meadows and green areas. Insufficient lighting conditions and uneven ground require particular caution. There is a risk of falling. For design reasons, these danger points are not indicated everywhere by warning signs. During the winter months, there is an increased risk of accidents in the Archaeological Park and in the car parks due to slippery snow and ice.
Open fires (e.g. barbecues, campfires, torches, candles) are not permitted in the Archaeological Park and on the parking areas. Do not throw away burning cigarette butts or objects such as glass, as this could lead to wildfires.
The road traffic regulations apply in the car park and we ask that the separate car park regulations are observed.
The KWG is a facility on the site of a legally protected archaeological monument and landscape conservation area. Any intervention in the soil and exposed archaeological remains is strictly prohibited. We have high ecological standards. Please support us in this endeavor.
The offering of goods and the setting up of sales stands of any kind, visitor surveys and distribution of brochures is only permitted in the outdoor area of the KWG with express, written permission.
