We invite you on a journey of discovery into the time of the Celts on the Glauberg 2400 years ago. The museum presents artefacts that are unique in Europe, including the statue of the "Celtic prince of Glauberg".

Celtic World at Glauberg back in its usual guise since 1 March 2024

After a two-year break from special exhibitions, the exhibition at the Museum der Keltenwelt am Glauberg is now back in its usual guise. For two years, the exhibition space housed the special show "KELTEN LAND HESSEN – Eine neue Zeit beginnt", which provided an overview of the Celtic settlement of Hesse with numerous finds until 31 October 2023.

Since 1 March 2024, all the finds that found their way into the permanent exhibition when the museum opened in 2011 can once again be admired. These include the rich grave goods that once followed three warriors of the Celtic elite into their graves. First and foremost is the grave inventory of the "Celtic prince of Glauberg", who died between the ages of 21 and 28 and was discovered in 1994. Even after almost 30 years, the fact that some of the grave goods are depicted on a life-size stone statue is still considered an archaeological sensation. Two years after the grave was found, a team of archaeologists unearthed the portrait of a Celtic warrior with his characteristic Mickey Mouse ears just a few metres away. As a unique relic of Celtic stonemasonry, it remains at the centre of the exhibition.

The entrance area, on the other hand, has been redesigned and welcomes you with a concise introduction to the "Celts" theme. Thanks to our new digital visitor information system, this and other content is available to English and French-speaking visitors. The museum team has also made other updates to the exhibition technology. To the delight of many visitors, the panoramic window once again provides a view of the reconstructed burial ground.

The Glauberg remains one of the most important archaeological sites of the Celtic Iron Age. In addition to the extraordinary burials, the remains of the former fortified hilltop settlement on the Glauberg emphasise the cultural and historical significance of the site on the eastern edge of the Wetterau.

A leisurely walk to the reconstructed burial mound or a hike on the Celtic World Trail through the archaeological park will reveal the monument and the magnificent natural landscape.

On the sun terrace of our museum bistro you can enjoy a spectacular view of the wide landscape of the Glauberg.
